The birth of Christ has been celebrated, well, since His birth, over 2,000 years ago. Though time often has the effect to cause people to forget events and people, the world will never forget this event. Imagine, the Son of God, the One who created everything, being born in human flesh to dwell among men and provide a payment for our sin. Jesus may have been born a babe, but even in the manger, He was just as much God as the day He was with His Father creating the heavens. We can’t explain it nor do we have to. Jesus, the sinless One, born of a virgin, who offered Himself on the cross of Calvary as payment for the sins of the world. The gifts He received as a young child from the Magi remind us of the gift He became on the cross, paid by His death, completed by His resurrection.
What gift? you may ask. It is the free gift of salvation. For you and me to go to heaven, we must pay for our sins, and the Bible tells us we can’t on our own. We need someone to pay our penalty for us, someone who is sinless, and that’s what Jesus did on the cross of Calvary when He gave his own life as a ransom for the whole world. The gift is offered to whosoever will accept it. Have you accepted the free gift of salvation? If you would like to know more, click the Plan of Salvation tab at the top.
